Sauternes n°2 de Château d’Yquem

Château d’Yquem’s Sauternes n°2 is an exclusive special bottling of Château d’Yquem, produced exclusively for deserving employees and good friends of the owner and not distributed commercially. Unlike the classic Château d’Yquem, whose quality is subject to the typical variations of the vintage, Château d’Yquem pursues the concept of the most consistent quality possible in this sweet wine, which is obtained by combining several vintages together. This also makes the wine more accessible and offers a pleasant freshness.

Château d’Yquem’s Sauternes n°2 is composed of batches of five different vintages (from 2010 to 2014) and bottled in 2016.

This wine reveals aromas of fresh fruit, especially citrus, as well as the candied notes characteristic of sweet wines (noble rot). The texture on the palate confirms this combination of delicious freshness and pure density. As these vintages age, the aromas of plum and orange jam are revealed, while freshness is maintained thanks to a pleasant spicy bitterness that balances the sweetness. The older these vintages age, the more these candied, spicy and spicy notes become intense in the mouth.
