Le Grand Pompée

Both producer and merchant, the Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné was founded in 1834 by Antoine Jaboulet. It then passed into the hands of his sons Paul and Henry, before being passed down from generation to generation. In January 2006, the Frey family, winemaker from Champagne and owner of Château La Lagune in Bordeaux, took over the house Paul Jaboulet Aîné.

The red and white Saint-Joseph wines from Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné pay tribute to the “Legend of the centuries” by Victor Hugo. Inspired by a historical battle, the name refers to a famous line: “And wine from that wine loved by the Great Pompey”.

This 2013 vintage reveals a beautiful white gold color. On the nose, it seduces by its expressiveness, revealing aromas of ripe pear and pineapple, accompanied by delicate buttery notes. On the palate, the attack is ample, dominated by ripe fruit flavors with white flesh, a fine acidity and a touch of salinity come to sublimate the finish, giving it balance and freshness.
