Owned by the Cordier estates, Château Talbot has always been considered the twin brother of Château Gruaud Larose. Located north of it, Talbot adjoins the vineyards of Léoville Poyferré. Its vast, one-piece vineyard rests on gravels in the limestone basement.
This 2009 vintage comes from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and completed by Cabernet Franc. The dress is expressed in beautiful purple shades. The nose gives off aromas of black fruits reminiscent of cherry cherries as well as deep nuances of liquorice and beautiful mineral notes of graphite. The palate is full-bodied and smooth. This magnificent Saint-Julien offers ripe tannins and tender acidity. This refined wine, made from a solar vintage, is well concentrated, while maintaining certain freshness.
Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate – Château Talbot 2009 rated 91/100.
