Château Smith Haut Lafitte

Superbly located in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation and dating from 1365, the Château Smith Haut Lafitte is one of the oldest castles in Bordeaux. This magnificent property entered a new era in its history following its acquisition by Daniel and Florence Cathiard in 1990. Carried with passion and ambition by the Cathiard couple, Château Smith Haut Laffite has become one of the most beautiful properties in the Graves with wines renowned worldwide for their elegance and style, both in red and white.

The 2020 vintage marks the 30th harvest of Daniel and Florence Cathiard, the 25th of Fabien Teitgen as well as the 655 years of the castle. On this occasion, the Château Smith Haut Laffite is adorned with a new exclusive label illustrating the property through an elegant gold-coloured engraving.

Made from a blend of cabernet sauvignon (65%), merlot (30%), cabernet franc (4%) and petit verdot (1%), this 2020 vintage has a dark red color, adorned with bluish reflections. The nose is expressive and gradually reveals fruity notes (red fruits, black fruits), empyreumatic notes as well as liquorice and pencil-like aromas. Powerful in attack, the mouth seduces with its creaminess, texture, balance and freshness. Firm tannins give a persistent and enveloping palate, marked by notes of sweet spices, licorice, blond tobacco leaf and graphite.
