Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel
Fort of its soil of graves, Château Poujeaux was for a long time the property of the family Theil, who worked to his fame. George Pompidou loved it. In 2008, the Cuvelier family (already owner of Clos Fourtet) took over the destiny, by continuing, they infuse a new energy and much ambition to this property of 52 ha planted with 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot and Malbec.
Finesse, charm and elegance characterize this 2011 vintage that reveals a red color of intense and all shades. Expressive and complex, the bouquet combines notes of spices (white pepper), toast and ripe red fruits. The freshness, from attack to finish, underlies a broad, fleshy, aromatic palate (prune, almond) supported by tannins extracted with moderation and by a well-dosed woody. The accuracy in this already tasty wine with certain potential.
Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate – Château Poujeaux 2011 rated 86/100.
