Langoa Barton’s story is inseparable from that of Léoville Barton. And for good reason, Hugh Barton first bought the Langoa estate before buying part of the Léoville estate. These two famous Saint-Julien vintages still belong to the Barton-Sartorius family. Château Langoa Barton and Château Léoville Barton are vinified in the same cellars and share the same second wine: La Réserve de Léoville Barton.
A remarkable and flattering 2000 vintage, both by its deep color and by its bouquet mixing smoked, toasted and fruity notes (cassis). On the palate, the tannins are silky and dense and the structure well balanced. The finish is long and with nice fruity notes. A concentrated and powerful 2002 vintage with great ageing potential.
Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate – Château Langoa Barton 2000 rated 91/100.
