The vines of Château Kirwan are still located exactly on the original land, when it was classified and cited as the top third classified cru of the Médoc in 1855. The Schÿ ler family, head of the estate, has maintained ties with Denmark, where they are from. The Schröders and the Schÿ ler are also Danish General Consuls in Bordeaux. The vineyard covers 35 hectares in one piece, and enjoys an ideal exposure.
This 2004 vintage is a very typical Margaux wine: feminine and delicate. It is characterized by an elegant bouquet of vanilla and ripe fruit. It has a finesse that develops as it ages. Château Kirwan enjoys a worldwide reputation, thanks to its exceptional terroir and the meticulous care taken in the vinification of its wines.
Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate – Château Kirwan 2004 rated 90/100.
