The Château du Glana is located on the Route des Grands Vins along the Gironde estuary, between the villages of Beychevelle and Saint-Julien, just opposite the Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. The Glana Castle owes its origin to the fragmentation of the Château Saint-Pierre, Fourth Grand Cru Classé in 1855.
It was in 1961 that Mr. Gabriel Meffre, a renowned nurseryman from Vaucluse, became the buyer.
In the years that followed, he increased the vineyard’s area from five to forty-three hectares, thanks to the successive acquisition of several plots belonging to the Château Lagrange, Third Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Julien.
His son, Jean-Paul Meffre, and his grandsons, Ludovic and Julien, are now in charge of the property and have great ambitions for it, especially to develop untapped potential.
This 2014 vintage is rated 91/100. It reveals an intense nose of spices and blackberry with a woody tip. This wine is of a beautiful density, straight, elegant, lots of class, the tannins are fine, aromatically complex. Huge success !
