Le Clos L’Evêque

The Romans planted the first plots of vines on the current lands of the Château d’Etroyes. They also built a temple for the worship of the god Mercury, which earned the town to take the name of Mercurey. The Château d’Etroyes adopted a coat of arms bearing the winged helmet of Mercury, when it was founded in 1720 by the Protheau family. The property remained in this family for 298 years. The Château d’Etroyes was bought in 2018 by a group of eight partners. Xavier Daudin then manages the estate.

This 2004 vintage has a deep and fine red color with garnet reflections. It reveals aromas of red fruits tending to leather and game. Body, material, bouquet, finesse and distinction are the characteristics of this red wine. It is round and tannic has a good aging ability.
