Château Chasse Spleen is an exceptional Grand Cru in Moulis in the Médoc. The story begins in 1760 under the ownership of Sieur Gressier. In 1822, the game of marriages and heritages splits the estate into two: Gressier-Grand-Poujeaux and Grand-Poujeaux Castaing. In 1976, Jacques Merlaut acquired the estate of Chasse-Spleen and it was his daughter Bernadette and her granddaughter Céline Villars who took over. In 2003, the Merlaut-Villars finally bought Château Gressier-Grand-Poujeaux and ended the history of the estate.
This 2010 vintage is a bright and clear dark garnet color. Composed of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, the nose of fresh rose follows notes of cherry, pencil and slightly vanilla wood sap. The structure is silky around a fine grain, enveloping and powerful. The aromas of cherry and blackberry persist in the final.
Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate – Château Chasse Spleen 2010 rated 89/100.
