Château Caronnes Sainte Gemme

2014

Bottle (0,75L)

Dry

The property was bought in 1900 by Emile Borie, grandfather of Jean Nony-Borie who has been managing it since 1943 with his nephew François Nony, in view of the succession.

Next to the Châteaux Lagrange, Gruaud Larose, Belgrave and the Tour Carnet, the Château Caronne Sainte-Gemme is located on the borders of Saint Laurent du Médoc which borders Saint Julien. The vineyard has an area of 150 hectares, of which 45 hectares are single-piece vines spread over a deep grave croup.

The grape varieties are divided between 60% cabernet sauvignon, 37% merlot and 3% small verdot with a relatively high planting density of 10,000 feet per hectare. The vineyard work is traditional, the vines are tilled and plowed.

This 2014 vintage is rated 90/100. It reveals a fresh and frank nose, on a crisp and juicy fruit. The palate is brilliant, the tannins silky, with some oakiness, prolonged by a long and smooth finish.
