Château Calon Ségur

Located to the north of the small village of Saint-Estèphe, Château Calon Ségur is the northernmost of the great classified wines of the Médoc. One of the most well-known in its name as well. Its vineyard, totally surrounded by a heavy stone wall, has kept its initial dimensions dating from the elaboration of the 1855 classification: 55 hectares on superb gravelly hillsides.

This vintage 1989 is wonderfully drunk, revealing aromas of cherries and black berries mixed with notes of cigar box, black truffles and toasted bread. Full-bodied, fleshy and muscular, with a generous core of fruit, ripe tannins, low acidity and a long, vigorous finish, it is a vintage that gets better and better as its structure softens over the years.
