Cave de Chautagne

La Cave de Chautagne, 70 years of experience.

1952 is the birth of the Cave Coopérative de Chautagne. Very quickly, the success is there: anxious to modernize, the members adopt the most advanced technologies at the time. The tool is efficient and the wines recognized for their excellence.

In 2016, a marriage of reason is required: the Cave de Chautagne and the Cave d’Apremont merge to become “Le Vigneron Savoyard”.

Today, the structure has more than 60 members, operates 170 hectares of vines and produces ten thousand hectolitres of wine each year.

This 1998 vintage has a visibly light dress, but a rather dark red, ruby shards. The nose develops smoky notes of flint and leather. The fruit is indeed there, with aromas of raspberry, blackcurrant and cherry. It is the terroir of Chautagne that, taking over, announces a rigorous wine. On the palate, the attack is frank and the tannins tight. A slight astringency gives relief to the wine, which, while finesse nevertheless, reveals itself on the length. The flavors of small red fruits, jam type, are highlighted both by the acidity and by this discreet sweetness, which harmoniously counter mineral notes.
