Saint Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé

Clos Fourtet

1997

Bottle (0,75L)
Red
Dry

The name of Clos Fourtet comes from a military camp, Camp Fourtet, which was used during the Middle Ages to protect the village of Saint-Emilion. It was the lords of Figeac who first made this vineyard, set in walls, famous during the 18th century. Bought by the Cuvelier family in 2001, this 18 ha one-piece clos is now part of the elite of Libournais. There is a great consistency in the quality of the vintages, certainly due to the wise advice of the famous oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt as well as to the great know-how of the family Cuvelier, already owner of a trade and several domains on the other side of the Garonne.

Composed of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, this 1997 vintage offers a powerful and racy wine. Developing very flattering aromas of red fruits, this Clos Fourtet is robust, fleshy, and has excellent aging potential.

Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate – Clos Fourtet 1997 rated 92/100.
