The story begins when Justin Onclin buys the castle in 2002. Aware of the potential of its terroir, its goal is to respect the heritage and roots of this vintage, while giving the domain a new breath, and a visionary impetus. The Château Branas Grand Poujeaux is now a clean and modern place, producing a powerful and elegant wine. Located on the left bank of the Gironde estuary, its location is atypical. Between Margaux, Saint-Julien and Pauillac, the property includes a diversity of exceptional terroirs.
This 2016 vintage of the château Branas Grand Poujeaux has a deep garnet colour. This wine opens with notes of gooseberry, blackberry and plum, with some hints of mint, chocolate and spices. The palate is an explosion of red and black fruits, framed by round tannins and a spicy finish.
Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate – Château Branas Grand Poujeaux 2016 rated 91/100.
