Château Lalande Borie

1990

Château Lalande-Borie was entirely created in 1970, by the purchase of a third classified Grand Cru plot of 30 hectares of land in the Saint-Julien appellation. The name “Lalande-Borie” is derived from the cadastral name of the plot and the name of a large family of winegrowers, established in the Médoc for more than a century, and owner of prestigious Crus: Ducru-Beaucaillou, Grand-Puy-Lacoste and Haut-Batailley. The vinification and ageing of Lalande-Borie wines are conducted with the same technique, care and spirit as those of the other estates of the Borie family.

This 1990 vintage has a deep ruby color, slightly evolved with tuled reflections. The nose is complex and seductive. Aromas of ripe black fruits such as plum and black cherry are mixed with notes of cedar, tobacco, leather and licorice. Undergrowth and truffle nuances complete this rich and engaging aromatic profile. The palate is ample and generous, with perfectly integrated tannins that give it a velvety texture. Black fruit flavors unfold harmoniously, accompanied by hints of vanilla, coffee and sweet spices. The structure is solid, but the finesse and balance also stand out. The finish is long and persistent, leaving notes of ripe fruit and spices linger pleasantly in the mouth.

Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate – Château Lalande Borie 1990 rated 86/100.
