The Château Gloria was created in 1942 by the passionate Henri Martin. Very influential (Mayor of Saint Julien and President of the Interprofessional Council of Bordeaux Wines), he manifested a desire to create a renowned property. This unmissable figure of the Médoc has managed to raise Château Gloria to the level of excellent wines of the town, although it never obtained the revision of the classification of 1855 that would have allowed it to be included. When Henri Martin died in 1991, he left the estate to his son-in-law Jean-Louis Triaud who has since managed Château Gloria and Château Saint Pierre, the fourth Grand Cru Classé.
This 2013 vintage plays more on elegance than power. First of all, its bouquet is fine and complex, rather fruity (red and black fruits), slightly empyreumatic, enhanced by notes of leather and clove. Then by its franc palate, which develops a round and aromatic matter, as fruity as the nose, backed by silky tannins. The long finish with hints of spice and tobacco reflects a good potential.
Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate – Château Gloria 2013 rated 86/100.
