This Second Cru Classé in 1855 is located on one of the highest points of the town of Sauternes, it dominates the valley of the Ciron. A tormented fate made that this property, built in the 14th century, passed into many hands and was shattered into several pieces. The majority of the property was acquired in 1981 by two brothers, Philippe and Jacques Guignard, who were only about 20 years old at the time. Since then, they have developed a rigorous and quality approach. Thanks to their constant efforts, they have been able to give this vintage the reputation and place it deserves.
This 1999 vintage, still undervalued despite very good results, sports an old gold-backed robe. Superbly liquorous, this corpulent wine is concentrated, rich and spicy. On the palate, of medium complexity, it is flexible and creamy while its nose develops intense notes of candied fruit.
