The Château Gloria was created in 1942 by the hands of the passionate Henri Martin. Very influential (Mayor of Saint Julien and President of the Interprofessional Council of Bordeaux Wines), he showed a desire to create a renowned property. This key figure of the Médoc managed to elevate Château Gloria to the level of excellent crus of the town, although it never obtained the revision of the classification of 1855 that would have allowed him to appear there. When Henri Martin died in 1991, he bequeathed the estate to his son-in-law Jean-Louis Triaud who has since managed Château Gloria as well as Château Saint Pierre, fourth Grand Cru Classé.
This 1999 vintage presents a dark red dress and a rich nose, with fragrances of fruits and flowers and elegant with some notes of leather and tobacco. The mouth offers a round and fruity structure letting out the flavor of ripe fruits. The tannins are fine and the wine shows a long and pleasant finish, slightly spiced by a discreet woody.
Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate – Château Gloria 1999 rated 86/100.
