The Domaine Marc Colin has established its reputation on top-flight whites. It has an impressive collection of terroirs in Chassagne and Puligny, and several works from the mythical Montrachet. It is now the children of Marc, Caroline and Damien, who are at the head of the estate but the identity of the property has not weakened for all that. The search for precision and accuracy is impressive, whether in the vineyard, during winemaking or on the farms.

This rare Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Vide Bourse is a pure jewel, one of the rarest and most prestigious Premiers Crus (with Remilly and Dent de Chien) from the north of the Chassagne-Montrachet estate, on the side of the Grands Crus. This climate occupies barely more than a hectare: it is nestled just below the Bâtard-Montrachet.

This 2020 vintage seduces with its aromatic voluptuous elegance, deeply impregnated by the stone. The roasted almond next to the Reine-Claude plum, the violet and jasmine are adorned with a tangy touch evoking citrus skins and lemon, the crushed rock blends with delicate acacia honey, a note of incense precedes a discreet touch of vanilla cream. Then come the white and yellow fruits, radiant! It’s a delight. The mouth confirms the great nobility of the origins: the balance is sumptuous. On one hand, the density and fullness of a velvety and enveloping material, with flavors of finely buttered stone fruits. On the other, the energy coming from the soil and the plant, which is embodied in this saline and spicy tension that excites and makes each butterfly vibrate.
