Les Rugiens

The trading house was founded in Monthélie, in 1831, under the impetus of Bernard Bichot and will experience a tremendous growth during the 19th century by becoming notably the official supplier of the Court of Sweden. Albert Bichot has taken over the reins of the company since 1996, perpetuating the family heritage with the right dose of modernity. Today, he is at the head of more than 100 hectares of vines, spread from north to south of Burgundy, and grouped into 6 prestigious estates. Respect for the terroir, perfect mastery of winemaking, Albert Bichot wines are carriers of an emotion, a philosophy that make the House one of the greatest names in Burgundy.

The Domaine du Pavillon is located south of Pommard, in Côte de Beaune. At the heart of a walled clos, are gathered cuverie, cellar and mansion of the 18th century. The Estate covers 19.5 hectares of vineyards.

The most well-known terroir of Pommard, the red color in this plot comes from the remains of iron nodules that explain the name “Rugiens”. Earthy, animal, black fruits, undergrowth are aromas found in this 2008 vintage. The mouth is powerful and fleshy with present tannins that round off after a few years in the bottle. A wine with long storage.
