Located 15 km from Bordeaux, in the southern part of the appellation, the vineyards of Château Larrivet-Haut-Brion are adjacent to those of Château Haut-Bailly. The name of the domain has undergone many changes during its two centuries of history. In 1949, it took its current name: château Larrivet Haut-Brion, but it was under the impetus of Christine and Philippe Gervoson that the estate was reconstituted, by the acquisition of original plots. Large investments are made, and the wines gradually return to their old quality. From 1996, the fine vintages succeed each other and the terroir is again fully expressed.
This 2002 vintage is a beautiful expression of the terroir. The dense ruby colour does not show any signs of evolution. The nose is complex: ripe fruit (blackcurrant), characteristic smoky notes, animal notes. The wine has a nice volume, delicate and silky tannins, remarkable balance and length.
