Located on the limestone plateau of Saint-Martin de Mazerat, immediately west of the magical city of Saint-Émilion, Château Beau-Séjour Bécot, owned by Gérard and Dominique Bécot is in the heart of the appellation. With an area of almost 17 hectares, its vineyard includes 70% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. Gérard Bécot officially retired on January 2, 2014. The general management was entrusted to his son-in-law, Julien Barthe, husband of Juliette Bécot who still follows the vinification.
This 2014 vintage has a sumptuous very dark color with blood red reflections. The nose is very expressive and intense: aromas of red fruits and wood, with a touch of vanilla and delicate nuances of spices. It is racy with robust tannins and a pronounced structure, offering a deep and complex mouth experience. In short, it is a wine that needs to age for another good ten years to truly appreciate its value.
Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate – Château Beau Séjour Bécot 2014 rated 93/100.
